Programs Officer
Muhammed is a community development specialist, social worker, and quality healthcare advocate with over four years of experience in social enterprise management, social services, community development, non-profit management, and youth development. His expertise covers building communities, activating networks to support vulnerable people towards independent living, and reducing social isolation.
Muhammed has worked and volunteered with several non-governmental organisations. Between 2018 and 2023, he led the medical intervention projects of Sakinah Medical Outreach (SMO) to reduce the economic (and health) burden of over 5,000 families living in underserved communities through community medical outreaches and individual medical intervention. One of his shining moments at the organisation was during the ‘Gift of Sight’ project at Agboyi Ketu, Lagos, where he facilitated free eyecare service by distributing 310 eyeglasses, 1700 eye medications, and carrying out 112 eye surgeries.
Muhammed is a project manager, grant writer, fundraiser for social causes, and a passionate advocate of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDG), and most of his projects promote the SDGs: Goal 1—the eradication of poverty; Goal 3—quality healthcare and wellbeing; and Goal 5—Gender Equality. In 2021, he was awarded the Volunteer of the Year by the Nigeria Volunteers Award for emerging civic leaders. He was listed among the 20 Most Inspiring Men in Lagos by the Young Africa Leadership Initiative (YALI) Lagos network in 2022. He was selected as a
fellow of the Carrington Youth Fellowship Initiative (CYFI) in 2023.
Muhammed is a graduate of Urban and Regional Planning, and a master’s degree holder in Urban and Regional Planning, and Community Development, and Social Work. He aspires to be a far more successful humanitarian, with the goal of improving the lives of poor Nigerians and becoming a renowned expert in the social sector field.
